Jonny Waldman, who writes with his nose so that both hands are free to fend off goats, hereby reveals a bit about himself.
*** WHO'S JONNY? ***
My name is Jonny Waldman, I'm a writer in Boulder, Colorado, and I hate goats. There, I said it. I feel so much better now.
I grew up just outside Washington, DC, studied environmental science at Dartmouth, and, a few years later, studied science journalism at Boston University. Since then, I've worked at two science museuems, fact-checked at two magazines, and contributed to one NPR show, one online journalism startup, one artsy book, and two PBS documentaries. I also founded and head-honchoed one quirky little bicycle-themed company. Most recently, I was a Scripps Fellow at the University of Colorado's Center for Environmental Journalism. Now I'm working on a book about rust, to be published by Simon & Schuster in 2013, and am represented by Janklow & Nesbit.
In between, I've lived all over the place, raised a rugged beast, and dived into a lot of adventures. I've raced in the North American Cycle Courier Championships, limped unregistered through the Boston Marathon, puked my guts out learning to sail not far offshore, and skied a nordic marathon with the wrong wax. I've survived a tornado in Kansas, a flash flood in Utah, a hurricane in North Carolina, an avalanche in California, and an earthquake in Wyoming. Fire insurance seems like a good idea.
Digitally, I'm on Flickr, Facebook , and lesser nether regions of the Internet.
Manually, I'm just north of the 40th parallel, here:
